If the show was so successful, why did it end after only three seasons? Well, the network had just set their lineup and decided to cut and exclude the show. That seemed to be a reasonable thing to do at the time since it had not obtained good ratings. At first, CBS believed it could be successful in a time slot that was less expensive. However, the executives had decided to end it altogether when it had not met their expectations. It was not until 1970 and 1980 that the show had grown in popularity due to decades of syndication and various market reruns.

In 2016, the great David Bowie passed away and a new hashtag started trending like wild-fire. #RipBobDenver was everything. Fans everywhere paid their tribute to Bob Denver, the star of Gilligan’s Island. What everyone wrote was touching but it was about 10 years too late. Denver had actually died 10 years before!
