One of the most essential features of the show was the radio transmissions received by the characters via a Packard Bell AM radio. In order to make it realistic, a telescoping antenna was added. Interestingly, the real model of Packard Bell neither had a handle nor an antenna!

Inventive Prop Team
Another essential feature of Gilligan’s Island was the technology created by the castaways out from scraps from the island. Obviously, the show’s prop team faced the greatest challenges. They had to be inventive as they had to work with a limited number of random objects.
