Her Husband Put His Foot Down
Before René was Céline’s lover, he was first her manager. He was the one who insisted that Céline record the song “My Heart Will Go On”. In an interview with Jonathan Ross, here was what she had to say: “[Angélil] said, ‘Let’s just do a demo. Let’s give it a try and we’ll see after.’ The demo is actually the real recording. I never sang the song again.” After the song was released in 1997, it instantly became a hit and enabled Céline to win numerous awards.

In 1990, she opened her own restaurant named Nickels in Quebec. It soon turned into a chain of restaurants all over Canada.
