It seems like fame and show business go hand in hand with enjoying a drink…or more. A lot of celebrities find themselves thrust into a world of glitz, glamour, and partying when they first became famous, and often, they become quite reliant on the drink in order to have a good times. Others will drink to get away from the difficulties of fame. Whatever the reason may be, at a certain point, many celebs realize that it is not a sustainable way to live. These celebrities have decided to cut out drinking from their lives for good.
Tim McGraw told Ellen Degeneres in an interview: “I made the decision to change my ways back in 2008. I believe it is a personal choice when it comes to the point where you believe it is negatively impacting your life and your relationships.” In 2013, he said in an interview with People: “I don’t drink at all. It’s not a part of my life anymore.”
Samuel L. Jackson
Samuel L. Jackson struggled with his addiction for years before getting completely sober in 1991. He said in an interview on radio show Sway In The Morning: “For me, I have a direct correlation between getting sober and success because when I was in rehab, Spike Lee called (for 1991’s Jungle Fever). So as soon as that happened — when Jungle Fever happened — I started going to lunch in Hollywood. Or I won that award in Cannes, they created that award in Cannes for me.So my success directly correlates to me getting straight and me getting in touch with who I am and understanding what my talents were and how to tap into them in a positive way and not that negative way that I used to.”
