Before Buddy Ebsen played Jed Clampett, he actually had worked with the likes of Shirley Temple and Judy Garland. He was also originally cast to play the scarecrow on The Wizard of Oz, but the role was ultimately given to Ray Bolder and Ebsen played the Tin Man instead before he had to drop out after becoming ill from the aluminum dust in his makeup.
